Yesterday morning, community and civic organizations including the Alliance for a Better Community (ABC), Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APAC), the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, the Los Angeles Urban League (LAUL), and United Way of Greater Los Angeles held a press conference to lend their support to the appointment of Dr. John Deasy as Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
Yesterday morning, community and civic organizations including the Alliance for a Better Community (ABC), Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APAC), the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, the Los Angeles Urban League (LAUL), and United Way of Greater Los Angeles held a press conference to lend their support to the appointment of Dr. John Deasy as Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Following the retirement of Ramon Cortines, Dr. Deasy will take the helm of the second largest school district this upcoming spring.
ABC’s Executive Director, Angelica Solis spoke on behalf of Latino parents, students, and our community partners to congratulate the District on the appointment of the new superintendent. “I can confidently say that I stand and express our support of Dr. Deasy’s appointment as many of us have seen first-hand, Dr. Deasy’s demonstrated commitment toward significant improvements in student achievement” said Angelica M. Solis, Executive Director of ABC.
The Alliance for a Better Community is confident that Dr. Deasy will be a strong alley as we work together to ensure all of our students receive a high quality education and we look forward to continuing our partnership with him in his new role.
